We got Salesforce, now what?

I wanted to take the opportunity to talk about when your organisation takes on Salesforce what comes next.

I speak from experience after taking on Salesforce as a corporate customer 2 years ago with 15 licenses.  Firstly, you must be realistic about resources and budget allocation to the ever evolving Salesforce.

As part of your subscription you have three updates a year.  With each update comes more features and improvements.  These happen in the background but someone in your organisation needs to know about them!

Some of the top suggestions to get started:

  1. Appoint a ‘super user’ resource, this should be someone that has genuine interest in Salesforce or CRM and that also has an understanding of your business processes and goals.  This person will ultimately take ownership of Salesforce.  This may be someone internally that is already Certified or it may be a user that is part of an upskill program.  It can also be the key person that will communicate with a consultant or the premier support team.

  2. Allocate a budget to training and relevant certifications, your company will only benefit from having someone across Salesforce.  Make it part of your strategy to have a success plan for Salesforce.  You can check out what’s available from Salesforce here at this link https://trailhead.salesforce.com/en/trails

  3. Join the Salesforce Community Online or your local Salesforce User Group to talk to other businesses directly that also use Salesforce and find out how they are getting better value out of their subscriptions!
